Economist: No end in sight for recession

    More than 60 area business leaders and other Adams County residents attended the second annual Economic Outlook Forum,  held Tuesday in the Decatur Room ofAdams Memorial Hospital. The event was sponsored by the First Merchant Bank in conjunction with the Decatur, Berne and Geneva chambers of commerce.
    The program featured Ball State University professor Michael J. Hicks, director of the Center for Business and Economic Research at the Miller College of Business, who presented his economic outlook for the nation, state and region, before moderating a panel of local business leaders, who discussed the local economic outlook from the perspective of their respective professions.
    Hicks navigated through statistics indicating the national economy will likely continue to perform poorly in a number of key areas through 2014.
