Kmart associate Mendi Brite was handing out tickets early Friday morning — around 4 a.m. early — at the Decatur store.
Kmart shoppers needed a ticket to purchase some of the limited-quanity items on special for Black Friday. Brite said she ran out of tickets for the Garmin GPS, PlayStation 3 and a TV with a built-in DVD player.
Dreama Hampton, Star Hampton and Annie Bertsch were the first people in line at the store, starting the line around 4 a.m. in anticipation of the store's 5 a.m. opening.
They said there were 15-20 cars in the parking lot shortly after 3, but once one person got in line, others began to follow.
