Dwight L. Hirschy

    Dwight L. Hirschy, 76, Decatur, passed away Jan. 25, 2014, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    He was born July 28, 1937, to the late Amos and Rosalene (Marsh) Hirschy. He married Doris Coon Aug. 1, 1959; she survives.
    Dwight was a member of St. Mark's Methodist Church in Decatur. He graduated in 1956 from Indiana School for the Deaf and worked at Berne Furniture in the frame department from 1956-1999; retiring after 43 years of employment. He was involved in softball activities and bowling leagues in Berne for many years. Dwight enjoyed being involved in Boy Scouts with his sons and had a love for fishing, mushroom hunting and playing cards.
    He is survived by two sons, Ricky (Raelene) Hirschy of Fort Wayne and Norman (Barbara) Hirschy of Decatur; a daughter, Brenda (Terry) Cox of Portland; a sister Coleen (Henry) Sipe of Lebanon ,Tenn.; five grandchildren, Holly (Ryan) Hurd, Heidi (Andrew) Burgess, Tristan Cox, Amanda and Allison Hirschy; two great-grandchildren, Hailey and Evie Hirschy.
    Dwight was preceded in death by a brother, Clifford Hirschy and a sister, Sharon Habegger.
    Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Emerson officiating.
    Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to services, both at the funeral home.
    Burial is in the MRE Cemetery, Berne.
    Preferred memorials are to St. Mark's Methodist Church Deaf Ministry.
