Dwight F. Girod

    Dwight F. Girod, 90, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Decatur, died Friday, May 10, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital.
    Dwight was born in Adams County on April 3, 1923, to the late Milton and Emma (Firks) Girod.
    On June 21, 1953, he married Jane Maddox; she survives in Fort Wayne.
    Dwight was a member of Grace St. John's United Church of Christ, the General Electric Quarter Century Club, and Elfun Society. He retired from General Electric in Fort Wayne as a Cost Accounting Manager. A 1941 graduate of Kirkland High School, Dwight was valedictorian of his class and was also a 1948 Indiana University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree.
    Dwight honorably served his country during World War II in the Army Corps Engineering 1567th Division.
    Among survivors are his son, Randall K. Girod J.D. of Syracuse, Ind.; two daughters, Susan J. Girod (Jerold J. Harter M.D.) M.D. of Stevens Point, Wisc., and Lisa A. Girod of Indianapolis; granddaughter, Claire Girod of Stevens Point, Wisc.,; and sister, Irene Longenberger of Fort Wayne.
    Dwight was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen Girod and Arthur Girod M.D.; and a sister, Mary Kelley.
    A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, in Decatur Cemetery, with Pastor Larry Holderbaum officiating.
    Preferred memorials are to St. Vincent-New Hope of Indiana.
