Dorothy E. Poling

    Dorothy E. Poling, 67, of Decatur, passed away at 5 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2012, in the Woodcrest Nursing Center.
    Dorothy was born on Wednesday, March 8, 1944, in Van Wert County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Harold and Pauline (Foster) Hurless.
    Dorothy was a member of Cornerstone Community Church in Decatur and had worked at the Decatur Daily Democrat prior to a motorcycle accident in 1975.
    Surviving are her daughters, Tonya (Jeff) Garringer of Decatur; Toni (Roger Bixler) Cook of Decatur; brother Ivan "Whitey" Hurless of Fort Wayne; sisters Norma Jean (Larry) Harmon of Wren, Ohio; Marlene (Dennis) Lobsiger of Decatur; and Mary Ruskaup of Van Wert, Ohio; five grandchildren, Danielle Buckner; Taner Garringer; Tayler Garringer; Tara Sipe; and Alexis Gorman; and eight great-grandchildren.
    Preceding Dorothy in death were her siblings, Paul "Homer" Hurless; Don "Tuck" Hurless; Gerald "Shag" Hurless; and Marcile Oeschle.
    Friends will be received from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, March 1, in the Woodcrest Chapel, and from 5 p.m. until funeral services.
    Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 1,  in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, with Pastor Brian Beall officiating.
    Burial will be in the Fletcher Cemetery, Wren, Ohio.
    Preferred memorials are to Family LifeCare, in Berne, or to the Cornerstone Community Church in Decatur.
