Dorothy Bixler

    Dorothy Bixler, 96, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at her residence.
    She was born on Tuesday, April 4, 1916, in Adams County, the daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Anna (Bultemeier) Heckman.
    She married Roy Bixler on October 18, 1947, in Adams County; he passed away on June 5, 2010.
    Dorothy was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen, where she was active in the Ladies Guild. She was also a past president of General Electric's Elex Club.
She was a homemaker and retired in 1981 from General Electric after 32 years of service.
    Surviving are her sons, Don A. Bixler of Decatur; John L. (Terri) Bixler of Fort Wayne; sister, Alice Klingel of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Stacey (J.D.) Pulver; Matthew (HyunJu) Bixler; John (Kristin) Bixler; Erin Bixler; and Nathan Bixler; and two great-grandchildren, Madalyn and Carson Pulver.
    Preceding Dorothy in death was a brother, Edward Heckman.
    Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen, with Pastor Peter Brock officiating.
    Burial will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery , Bingen.
    Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen or Worship for Shut-Ins.
