Donald W. Beery

   Donald W. Beery, 93, of Ossian, formerly of Decatur, died Tuesday, January 8, 2013, at Ossian Health and Rehabilitation Center.
    Don was born in Portland on November 23, 1919, to the late Clyde B. and Esther A. (Shrank) Beery.
    He married Dora J. Wilkinson on July 5, 1946; she survives in Ossian.
    Don served in the United State Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 43, VFW 6236 and the Moose Lodge 1311, where he was a member for 72 years. He retired in 1980 from Teeple Trucking as a truck driver.
    Among survivors are three granddaughters, Stacey (Steve) Lee, Stephanie (Jeff) Brite and Shelley Ortiz, all of Decatur; brother, James Beery of Peterson; sister, Pat Luginbill of Decatur; and four great-grandchildren, Zach and Jessica Lee, and Allie and Connor Brite.
    He was preceded in death by his son, David; daughter, Sandy Ortiz; two brothers, Bill and Robert Beery; and two sisters, Virginia Povelich and Jeanette Lopshire.
    Visitation will be  from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home. A Moose memorial service will be at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.<
    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 11, also at the funeral home.
    Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery with military graveside rites by the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
    Preferred memorials are to Mooseheart or American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
