Donald W. Barger

    Donald W. Barger, 76, rural Decatur, died Monday, May 12, 2014, at Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
    Don was born Sept. 16, 1937, in Adams County to the late Floyd G. and Merle (Plummer) Barger.
    He married his wife of 50 years, Sharon D. Garton, March 7, 1964; she survives.
    Don was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. He was a 1955 graduate of Adams Central and a Purdue University graduate with a degree in electronics. He was a manager for Sears stores in Decatur, Celina and Marysville, Ohio. He was treasurer for 12 years for the Preble Fire Department. He was also employed at Micro Precision in Berne and Helena Chemical in Craigville. Don served his country in the United States Air Force.
    Don is survived by a son, Bob (Donna) Barger of Decatur; two daughters, Suze (Darin) Liter of Decatur and Anne (Doug) Schwartz of Monroe; a brother, Wayne (Nancy) Barger of Craigville; and nine grandchildren, Devan and Makenzie Barger, Megan, Luke, Sarah and Nick Liter, Kayla, Kelsey and Madi Schwartz.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mark’s United Methodist church, with Pastor Phil Emerson officiating.
    Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 43.
    Visitation will from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home and from 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church.
    Preferred memorials are to Adams/Wells Crisis Center or St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
