Donald P. Jeffrey

    Donald  P. Jeffrey, 90, of Decatur, passed away at 1:27 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in the Adams Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
    Donald was born Sunday, August 13, 1922, in East Grand Forks, Minn., to the late John Isaac and Alice Elive (Gauthier) Jeffrey.
    He married Olga Schueler on March 17, 1946, in Decatur; she passed away February 25, 2003.
    Donald was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church-Preble, American Legion Post 43 in Decatur, and formerly of the Decatur Optimist Club. He served his country in the United States Army Air Force during World War II.
    Donald was a machinist at International Harvester in Fort Wayne for 10 1/2 years. He also worked at Central Soya in the maintenance department for 17 1/2 years and retired from farming in 1968.
    Among survivors are his daughter, Janine (Ron) Thieme of Decatur; brother, Duane (Anna Mae) Jeffrey of East Grand Forks, Minn.; four sisters, Rosalie Peterson and Veronica Hussey, both of East Grand Forks, Minn.; Betty Ann Hecht of Mentor, Minn.; and Jean Bagely of Henderson, N.V.; sister-in-law, Lorraine Jeffrey of East Grand Forks, Minn.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
    Donald was preceded in death by two sons, Gary L. Jeffrey and Danny Peter Kotta; a grandson, Daniel Jeffrey; two brothers, Vincent Jeffrey and Ardell Jeffrey; and three sisters, Lavern Jeffrey, Linda Jeffrey, and Ethel Gregoire.
    Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday, June 7, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home.
    Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Rev. Dr. Daniel Brege officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
    Preferred memorials are to American Legion Post 43 Color Guard.
