Swiss Heritage Village will go to the dogs this Saturday during the annual Swiss Days celebration in Berne.
The village of restored historic buildings on that city's north side will host a dog show at noon and wiener dog races at 10 a.m.
Four races are scheduled: puppy, stud, powder puff, and the open grand championship.
The dog variety show will have judging in seven categories: most lovable dog to the judge, terrific pet trick, cutest puppy, best dressed, best vocal performance, best tail-wagger, and most affectionate to its owner. Only nonaggressive dogs may be entered.
The dog show will have seven judges: Berne Mayor John Minch, local school Principal Jeff Rich, State Rep. Matt Lehman of Berne, Dr. Richard Yoder (a veterinarian), lifetime Berne resident Gretchen Lehman, Don Coon, and Swiss Days Queen Latessa Herrera.
Entry fees are $10 for an open variety category and a race, $5 for one race, and $3 for extra races. Pre-registration is preferred, but not required.
