DeWayne “Ken” Dawson, 71, Geneva, passed away at 9:43 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at his residence.
He was born Monday, Feb. 3, 1943, in Decatur to the late Arthur “Pete” Dawson and Katherine Wolfe.
Ken married Marjorie Dawson Saturday, Nov. 3, 1984, in Berne; she survives.
He was a 1963 graduate of Decatur High School. Ken had been a member of Moose Lodge 1311 and Masonic Lodge 571 F & A.M. in Decatur, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne.
Being recently retired, he worked for many years at McIntosh in Berne, Limberlost Apartments in Geneva and was self-employed. The Dawson’s formerly owned and operated the High Line Restaurant in Geneva. He formerly served in the United States Navy.
He is survived by two sons, Anthony D. “Tony” (Sarah) Dawson of Berne and Scott A.K. Dawson of Rochester; three daughters, Ashley D. Dawson of Geneva, Erica Sue Dawson of Fort Wayne and Shari (James) Bailey of Wells County; a sister, Donna (Gary) Heckert of Decatur; a half-brother, Karl Lough of Decatur; two half-sisters, Maxine Brickley of Decatur and Lue Flippo of Kentucky; and five grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a brother, William Dawson; a half-brother, Wilbur Lough; and brother-in-law, Warren Brickley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Downing and Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva, with Pastor Michele Isch officiating.
Internment will follow in the West Lawn Cemetery in Geneva.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. by Masonic Lodge 571.
