Derek O. Franz

    Derek Ogden Franz, 21, Monroeville, passed away Saturday evening, Nov. 23, 2013. Derek was fatally injured following a traffic accident on Hoagland Road in Allen County.
    Derek was born Monday, Nov. 16, 1992, in Ft. Wayne, the son of Kent R. Franz and the late Sandra J. (Ogden) Franz. 
    Derek was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling.  He was a 2011 graduate of Heritage High School. Derek was a self-employed farmer working with his father on the family farm known as Franz Farms.
    Surviving are his father and step-mother, Kent R. and Sandy (Trowbridge) Franz of Monroeville;  sister, Jordyn K. Franz, at home; maternal grandfather, Maurice Ogden of Roann; aunts and uncles from Kent's family, Donna (Dale) Schlemmer of Gladstone, Mich., LouAnn (Bill) Beery of Ft. Wayne, Ron (Marge) Franz of Decatur and Janell (Ed) Harper of Monroeville; aunts and uncles from Sandra's family, Ron (Lora) Ogden of Roann, Dennis Ogden of Roann, Cindy (Dennis) Minnix of Roann, Julie Ogden of Roann, Cheryl (Rick) Schooley of Warsaw. Derek was loved by and will be missed by many cousins.
Preceding Derek in death was his mother, Sandra (Ogden) Franz; she passed away June 30, 2006.
    Visitation will be received from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
    Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling with Rev. Martin Moehring officiating. 
    Burial will follow at the St Peter Lutheran Cemetery.
    Preferred memorials are to St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling or AGAPE Respite Care in Berne.
