Decatur's 175th celebration opened over the weekend

    The 175th anniversary celebration of Decatur's founding began with a bang, with numerous events last weekend.
    One of the highlights was the screenings of "Hoosiers" and "Rudy" with David Anspaugh on hand to narrate and provide autographs.
    Brad Boyle, a Bellmont grad who played Whit in the film, and director Anspaugh, a 1965 Decatur High School grad, both attended the "Hoosiers" screening.
    Following is the 175 Celebration schedule for today through Wednesday:
    4-8 p.m.—Taste of Decatur at Riverside Center tent, highlighting restaurants in Decatur.
    4-8 p.m.—Carriage rides in the city, starting and ending at Riverside Center.
    5:30-6:30 p.m.—Dancing by students of the Razz M' Jazz studio of Decatur in a tent at Riverside Center.
    6:30 p.m.—Historic reminiscing about Decatur by Charlie Brune at the Decatur branch of the Adams Public Library System.

    5-7 p.m.—Dedication of the playground equipment erected in American Legion Park on Winchester St., with games, food, etc.
    7 p.m.—Praise service at Riverside Center's tent by the Decatur Ministerial Association.
