Decatur Legion post opening its doors to public for limited ocassions

June 26, 2014

American Legion Post 43 in Decatur will open its doors to the public for a series of upcoming events, beginning at 5 p.m.  Friday with an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner at the post, located at the corner of Madison and 1st streets.
According to Deb Lambert, a volunteer who is active in fundraising events for the post, the Legion “is working on holding more events that will be open to the public” in an attempt to generate more traffic at the post and to increase accessibility to the service organization.
The Legion will host public dinners on the third Friday of each month starting at 5 p.m. and lasting “until the food is gone,” Lambert said. The cost for the initial dinner Friday is $8.
In addition to the third Friday events, the Legion will host a Military Appreciation Day cookout and dinner at the post July 18, again starting at 5 p.m.
