Decatur fireworks event Saturday

Staff Writer

The city of Decatur will hold its annual Fourth of July celebration beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday in the area behind Riverside Center.
Festivities will start  with music provided by Filthy Rags. At 8:15 p.m., Jan Smith, commander of American Legion Post 43 in Decatur, will call in the color guard, then Mayor John Schultz will welcome all and Bridget Fravel will sing the National Anthem.
Following a prayer by Legion Chaplin Richard Wagner, a 21-gun salute and Taps, the main address will be given by Chantel Langston. When she finishes, music will return and continue until the fireworks begin, usually around 9:30-9:45 p.m. This year’s display will once again by handled by TND Fireworks of Decatur.
