Decatur eyes expanded annexation plan

September 3, 2014

The City of Decatur stands ready to annex the Adams Health Network properties at the southeast edge of the city and, apparently, is going to scoop up some more territory as well.
At its meeting last week, the health network adopted a voluntary annexation petition seeking to have Adams Memorial Hospital and Adams Woodcrest brought into the city. In all, some 140 acres are involved.
At its Tuesday night meeting, Decatur City Council and Mayor John Schultz were ready to begin the process, then decided to hold off until the next meeting as some other areas also are likely to be annexed.
