Daniel Meyer, Bellmont High School's career leader in touchdowns (42) and yards (more than 3,500), will join 11 other northeastern Indiana players on the 46-member North squad for this summer's annual North-South Indiana High School All-Star game.
Meyer, who will play fullback in the all-star contest, but will be a linebacker at the University of Indianapolis this fall, was also a top notch wrestler for the Braves, finishing third in the state this year and 112-19, with 66 pins in his four-year career.
This is the third year in a row that Bellmont has had a player on the North All-Star team. Two years ago, Caleb Meyer (Daniel's brother) and Billy Baker played defensive tackles for the North, while last year BHS linebacker Conner Emenhiser played for the North.
Other area seniors on the North squad are these:
•Ross Tucker of New Haven, center
•Andrew Tourney of Columbia City, offensive line
•Akeim Kelsaw of Snider, wide receiver
•Jordan Gater of East Noble, wide receiver
•Kyle Mathewson of Churubusco, running back
•Jalen West of Bishop Dwenger, running back
•Andrew Runkle of Southern Wells, defensive tackle
•Dru Durnell of Homestead, defensive end
•Steve Kiermaier of Bishop Luers, linebacker
•Quyuan Mattox of Bishop Luers, free safety
    •Tyler Willims of Snider, punter
The North squad will be coached by Mark Hoffman of Valparaiso, assisted by Bob Holmes of Bremen, Randy Hudgins of Columbia City, Kevin O'Shea of Lafayette Central Catholic, Roy Richards of Hammond Morton, Jason Simmons of Hamilton Heights, and Ross Perri of Mishawaka.
