Daniel Alan Shoaf, 59, of Decatur, passed away at 6:50 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012, in the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana located in Fort Wayne, after suffering a stroke Sunday at his residence.
Dan was born on Sunday, June 29, 1952, in Decatur, the son of the late Earl and Harriet (Voglewede-Gilson) Shoaf.
He married Danene K. Thieme on October 27, 1974, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Decatur; she survives.
Dan was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Decatur and a former member at Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur.
Dan was employed by Manpower Temporary Service; he was working for the Eaton Company in Van Wert, Ohio; he was formerly employed by Wells Fargo in Fort Wayne and Corning Glass in Bluffton.
Among survivors are his wife, Danene K. Shoaf, of Decatur; daughter Diana S. Loshe of Decatur; son Darin E. Shoaf, of Decatur; son Devin L. Shoaf, of Decatur; son Derek A. Shoaf of Decatur; sister Donna Shoaf of Decatur; sister Linda (Derryl) Grote of Decatur; and four grandchildren, Kayla, Madison, Dylan, and Leviticus.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. Sunday, March 18, in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 19, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Koeneman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Adams County Community Foundation Heart Fund.
