Crone retires; hiring freeze break okayed

June 25, 2013

Prosecutor Chris Harvey attended Monday's county commissioners meeting to request a break in the hiring freeze in order to replace chief investigator Bill Crone, who retired at the beginning of June.
Harvey said he needed to fill Crone's full-time position, which by statute is funded by the county. He added that in his opinion, the successor should have law enforcement training, and he plans to advertise the position after meeting with the council at the beginning of July to get the salary approved.
The commissioners approved breaking the hiring freeze.
