Two of the injured victims were airlifted by Parkview Samaritan and Lutheran helicopters and taken to Fort Wayne, while three were transferred by ambulance to Adams Memorial Hospital, where one victim was pronounced dead. The remaining two were transferred to Fort Wayne by ambulance.
Injured in the crash were Michael M. Schwartz, 16; newborn Susan M. Schwartz; Jerry M. Schwartz, 17; and Mary M. Schwartz, 44, all of Decatur.
Jerry Schwartz was listed in critical condition this morning, while Mary Schwartz was listed in critical but stable condition; Susan and Michael Schwartz were treated and released, according to a spokesman for Parkview Hospital.
