December 17, 2013

Ben Beer, a representative of the Indianapolis engineering firm of USI Consultants, Inc., informed Adams County Commissioners at their regular monthly meeting Monday the company’s submission of the Ceylon covered bridge rehabilitation project to the “Engineering Excellence” competition of the American Council of Engineering Companies has resulted in a State Finalist award for the firm.
He thanked commissioners for the opportunity to have been selected to perform the rehabilitation engineering for the project. This is the second year in a row that the company has received the award.
Reconstruction of the covered bridge across the Wabash River, located in Limberlost Park near Ceylon, was completed and reopened to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 14, 2012. The historic bridge was initially built in 1860 and is the only remaining covered bridge across the Wabash River in the state.
