Court, jail site efforts continuing

August 1, 2014

Adams County Attorney Mark Burry reported during this week’s meeting of the county commissioners the county is in the process of getting appraisals for the Collier Insurance Agency, 104 S. 3rd St., Decatur, as well as a single residence located behind the agency on Madison Street. The location is the primary site being considered for the construction of a new superior court building.
During a brief, weekly judicial center update, Burry opened quotes for soil testing at the 162-acre Miller property the county is considering purchasing for the construction of a new county jail. Both firms proposed drilling two 40-foot bores, six 25-foot bores and eight 10-foot bores to determine if the property is suitable for construction.
