County readies for sale of delinquent tax certificates

March 10, 2014

Adams County Attorney Mark Burry informed the board of county commissioners recently that County Treasurer Tom Krueckeberg will hold a tax certificate sale on properties with delinquent and outstanding taxes beginning at 9 a.m. on April 25 in the commission/council chambers of the Service Complex.
Burry said the county had conducted a tax sale last November on those same properties, and some of the properties sold at that time.
The county can hold a second sale offering the tax certificate in an attempt to sell the tax certifications for properties which had previously not sold, Burry stated, adding that by law the county can now “set a minimum bid price of $50 per parcel.” The minimum bid process may allow the county to sell some of the properties with delinquent taxes “just to get them back on the tax rolls,” he added.
