County to look at Music House

February 24, 2012

Adams County Attorney Mark Burry

Adams County Attorney Mark Burry presented a right of first refusal contract to the Adams County Commissioners Tuesday for the former Music House building on N. Second Street in Decatur.
The commissioners have hired Dave Sholl, of Schenkel and Schultz Architecture out of Fort Wayne to examine the building as a possible site to house Adams Superior Court.
The contract gives the county 90 days to inspect the property and come to a decision without fear the building will be sold before the process is complete.
An idea discussed in recent month, to have the county and the City of Decatur team up to building a joint building could not be worked out and has been dropped.
The current superior court building is over 100 years old, in need of more repairs and has a serious lack of security for a court building.
