The Adams County Commissioners unanimously voted to realign the four Adams County Council districts Monday at their regular weekly meeting. The move was made to create more equally-proportionate divisions by population in response to the most recent U.S. census figures from 2010.
According to information provided by Adams County Clerk of Courts Gayla Reinhart, the four county districts should have been re-drawn in 2011. For whatever reason, the county failed to do so at that time. Because redistricting must be done in a non-election year, the Adams County Elections Board drafted two alternatives for the commissioners to consider before selecting one to accomplish the necessary realignment.
