Coroner, Recorder posts up for grabs

November 2, 2012

Candiates for the position of Adams County coroner in the November 6 general election are Republican Leslie Cook  and Democrat Kristopher Burkhart.
Cook, former coroner and currently the county’s deputy coroner, said her certification in forensic nursing and her passion for the position “lead me to believe I am the best candidate to be your coroner.”
Burkhart, who resides in Monroe, is a registered paramedic and a 15-year member of the Monroe Fire Department.
“With my experience in public safety, I’ve developed many relationships that will serve me well. The coroner’s position is a working position, and I will work hard for the citizens of Adams County,” he said.

With incumbent county Recorder Connie Mosier barred by state term limit laws from seeking re-election, two first-time office seekers will square off in the November 6 general election.
Democrat Marcy Koons currently works as an administrative assistant in the county probation department. She said during a recent candidates’ event that her main focus as recorder is to continue to work to digitalize county records now in storage and to preserve those records for the public.
Republican recorder candidate Deb Stimpson won a three-way primary race in May to win the right to carry her party’s banner into November.
Stimpson said her organizational skills and "strong work ethic" make her the ideal candidate for the position. "I feel I am a qualified candidate and would serve the county well," she said.
