Corie Ida Galloway, 63, Geneva, died at 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Saturday, Sept. 9, 1950, in Maryland, the daughter of the late Frank and Almetta May Smith, Sr. She married James R. Galloway Sept. 25, 1973, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; he survives.
Corie had worked at CTS and Economy Printing in Berne and at the Hilton Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Fla. She had been a babysitter for 40 years and enjoyed camping, bingo, spending time with family and friends and especially spending time with all children.
Corie is survived by two sons, James M. (Erin) Galloway of Decatur and Jesse L. (Sukie Biena Baril) Galloway of Fort Campbell, Ky.; a daughter, Melissa J. (Thomas Jr.) Peek of Muncie; four sisters, Goldie (Tony) Jenkins of West Virginia, Lilly (James) Anderson of Arkansas, Mary (Joe) Claybo and Margie Burris, bot of Tennessee; a brother, Frank A. Smith, Jr. of West Virginia; and seven grandchildren, Thomas Peek, Jeremi Galloway, Alek Galloway,
Jesselene Galloway, Maysee Galloway, Biena Galloway and Kensie Galloway
A service to celebrate Corie’s life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Downing and Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva, with Rev. Wilbur Taylor officiating. Calling will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday. Interment will follow in the M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 6-8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. both Tuesday, all at the funeral home.
