A meeting lasting just over two hours on Saturday morning kicked off this year's Girl Scout cookie sales campaign in Adams County.
The gathering was in Riverside Center at Decatur and featured a Girl Scout cookie trivia contest (with six guest players), a cookie-eating contest (with six scouts and three guest eaters), display tables, and lessons on safety from two deputy sheriffs, Pat Piper of the Adams County Sheriff's Department and Randy Steele of the Wells County Sheriff's Department. Steele also showed off his partner, a three-year-old German shepherd police dog named Egon, and explained that a dog's sense of smell is 600 times better than that of a human.
