Construction of new jail within 5 years inevitable?

    During an October meeting of public officials scheduled by Adams County Sheriff Shane Rekeweg to discuss jail overcrowding issues, Commission Chairman Doug Bauman and Councilors Eric Orr and Stan Stoppenhagen discussed possible options which might be available in addressing the recently escalating problem.
    All agreed the construction of a new jail within the next five years was an inevitable, foregone conclusion, considering the statistical data released by Rekeweg, but also touched on a number of ideas which might help reduce jail populations in the meantime.
