Complex may get new area to park

August 20, 2013

The Adams County Service Complex may expand its parking capacity, according to County Attorney Mark Burry's report at Monday's commissioners meeting.
Burry informed the commissioners that James and Carol McGill are prepared to sell the empty lot east of the gym entrance to the Complex, across Third Street. Burry said the McGills' years-old appraisal priced the lot at $34,000 and recommended that the commissioners order another appraisal to make sure that price is still accurate.
If the commissioners approve the purchase of the lot after another appraisal, the transaction will still hinge on the permission of the county council. However, the lot is already zoned for business, so the commissioners will not need to appear before Decatur officials.
