Complex leaking solutions eyed
Dave Meyer of the county buildings and grounds department reported to county commissioners Monday that he received a quote of $58,631 from Atlas Building Services to add window flashing to the third floor windows across the front of the Service Complex.
Alternately, Atlas quoted a price of $16,736 to clean the area and add a water repellant to the windows.
There has been a problem with leakage at the complex for quite some time, according to Meyer.
Adams County Attorney Mark Burry suggested commissioners contact Dave Sholl, of Schenkel and Schultz Architecture to see what they may do differently.
Burry noted that the county had previously consulted a brick expert regarding window leakage at the courthouse and was told that adding sealant to the bricks had contributed to the problem.
"That tells me that this probably isn't something you want to do here, either," said Burry. "You don't want to keep doing this over and over again. It's expensive and you want to get it done right the first time."
Both Meyer and the commissioners agreed, and the quote from Atlas was tabled until further options could be fully explored.
