Club leaders to head 4-H parade

    Adams County 4-H club leaders Shirley Steiner and Gloria Sommer have been named the 2012 Adams County 4-H parade grand marshals.
    The fair officially kicks off on Sunday.
    Shirley and Gloria together have a total 36 years of service as 4-H volunteers, according to a news release.  For many years they were the Hartford Happy-Go-Lucky Club leaders.
    Steiner was a 10-year 4-H member and has stayed highly involved serving on 4-H council for many years, according to the news release. She also serves her community by sitting as co-chair of Bread of Life Food Pantry at the Monroe United Methodist Church.
    Sommer was a six-year 4-H member and stays actively involved with a home dairy and grain farm. She also stayed involved with 4-H by serving on the 4-H Council for many years and was a part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration, serving on the hospitality committee.
    She also spent many years as a foods judge for the 4-H Fair.
    The 4-H parade will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in Monroe.
