Closing in on a new snow record

Another weekend, another four inches of snow. Four inches closer to becoming the snowiest winter on record, topping the 1981-82 winter, during which Decatur saw 65.3 inches of snow from November 1981-February 1982.
Residents awoke Sunday morning to a surprising amount of snow after forecasters had predicted only a “slight accumulation” over the weekend. The snowfall, coupled with patchy fog, had all three Adams County schools running on a two- hour delay this morning. Schools in neighboring Wells and Jay counties in Indiana, as well as Van Wert and Mercer counties in Ohio, were also running on a two hour delay.
The National Weather Service is predicting frigid temperatures to remain in the area today and tomorrow, with the high expected to be around 13 degrees and the low around two below both days.
