Clara L. Scherer

    Clara L. Scherer, 91, of Decatur, died at 9 a.m. Thursday in The Village of Heritage Nursing Home at Monroeville.
    She was born on March 19, 1920,m in Wells County to Karl and Anna Werling Nahrwold.
    She married Lloyd Scherer on April 10, 1948, in Fort Wayne; he passed away on February 4, 1985.
    Clara was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church (Fuelling), rural Decatur.
    Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. John (Karen) Casey of Fort Wayne; one son, Dale Scherer (and wife Judy) of Decatur; two sisters-in-law, LaVon Scherer and Eileen Frederick of Monroeville; one brother-in-law, Ray Franz of Decatur; three granddaughters, Megan Scherer of Smyrna, Georgia, and Erin Casey and Michelle Casey of Fort Wayne; one stepgrandson, John Casey Jr. of Fort Wayne; and one stepgreat-granddaughter, Ayden Casey of Fort Wayne.
    She was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Carl Nahrwold, and four sisters, Minnie Meyer, Linda Grewe, Helen Franz, and Paula Franz.
    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Peter Lutheran Church (Fuelling), with Rev. Martin K. Moehring officiating.
    Burial will be in the cemetery at St. Peter Lutheran Church (Fuelling).
    Visiting hours are 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, and 1-2 p.m. Sunday in the church.
    Preferred memorials are to St. Peter Lutheran Church (Fuelling), the "Worship for Shut-Ins" program, The Village of Heritage, and Family LifeCare hospice in Berne.
    The family would like to thank the staff of The Village of Heritage and the staff at Family LifeCare of Berne for their compassionate care of Clara during her stay at The Village of Heritage.
