City urges: Let water taps run

February 14, 2014

Jeremy Gilbert, operations manager for the city of Decatur, said city crews are currently experiencing several frozen service lines to homes throughout the city. A service line, Gilbert explained, is the line from the water main to an individual’s home.
He said the frost line is averaging any where from three to four feet deep in the street or at hard surface area. The city of Decatur recommends homeowners let water run a constant stream for the next several days.
