City’s budget takes shape

August 7, 2013

The City of Decatur's budget for 2014 is increasing just $96,469 over last year, and much of that will go to a two percent pay raise for all city employees.
After considerable scrutiny given the budget by city council members at their previous meeting, council on Tuesday night saw the numbers redone by Clerk-Treasurer Phyllis Whitright.
The budget for 2014 — actually, the proposed budget — now stands at $7,453,579, an increase of $96,469 over the current figure of $7,357,110.
