One dilapidated building may soon become the target of City of Decatur action while another building, not dilapidated but long empty, apparently is going to get new life.
Responding to a question posed by Councilman Matt Dyer at Tuesday night's Decatur City Council meeting, Mayor John Schultz indicated something was going to be done in the near future to perhaps effect a cleanup of the large-sized home at Jackson and Second streets.
Throughout the city's code-enforcement — cleanup — efforts which began over two years ago, city officials have tried to nudge home owner George Craig into cleaning up the property, which years ago was one of the city's elite homes. Earlier this year, Code Enforcement Officer Bill Karbach said Craig had promised him something would be done.
