City Golf Tourney set at Cross Creek

    The Decatur City Golf Tourney and the Greater Hoagland Open are two area golf tournaments slated for the coming weeks.
    Cross Creek owner-operator Terry Laurent announced today that the Decatur City Golf Championship will take place August 6 and 7 at the Cross Creek Golf Club in Decatur.
    Entry fee is 25.00 per person. Competitors will make their own foursomes on Saturday by 1:00 p.m.  Sunday tee times will be flighted and start at 9:00 a.m.
    Divisions include Men's, Ladies, Men's Seniors (50 and over), and Men's Super Seniors (65 and over).  The Decatur City Golf Championship is open to those who reside or work in the City of Decatur, and any member of the Cross Creek Golf Club, or those who play in men's or women's leagues.

    The 17th annual Greater Hoagland Open will be held as an 18-hole Florida Scramble on Saturday, Aug. 20 with a 1 p.m. shotgun start at the Donald Ross Golf Course, formerly the Fairview Golf Course.
    Competition will be among four-member teams, and entry fee for the event will be $240 per team. The fee will include two carts and prizes, but not beverages on the course.
    Following the tourney, there will be a hog roast, refreshments, prizes and Monte Carlo at the Hoagland Park Pavilion.

    Checks should be made payable to the Hoagland Area Advancement Assoc., or HAAA. Entry sheets should contact the names of the team captain, his address and phone number, and the names of the other three golfers on that team.
