Charles S. DeKoninck

    Charles S. DeKoninck, 76, of Monroeville, died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at The Village of Heritage nursing home.
    He married Shirley A. Sorg on August 31, 1957, in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Hessen Cassel; she passed away on September 14, 2001.
    He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church at Hessen Cassel, a lifelong farmer (including dairy cattle), and the previous co-owner of Sunshine Florist in Decatur for 23 years (1981 to 2004).
    Surviving are three sons, Dennis W. DeKoninck (and wife Jeanne C.) of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; Ronald C. DeKoninck (and wife Becky M.) of Fort Wayne; and Jeffrey A. DeKoninck (and wife Cathy J.) of Monroeville; four daughters, Mrs. Jay (Lisa A.) Crisp of Decatur; Cheryl L. Williams (and fiance Marty Gaskill) of Hoagland; Mrs. Chris (Joyce M.) Ellsworth of Decatur; and Julie A. DeKoninck of Monroeville; one brother, Frank DeKoninck (and wife Phyllis) of Fort Wayne; one sister, Clara Macy of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and three brothers.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Hessen Cassel, with Father Thomas Lombardi officiating.
    Burial will be in St. Rose Catholic Church's cemetery at Monroeville.
    Visiting hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home's Jacobs Chapel at .Monroeville and 10-11 a.m. Monday in the church.
    A rosary service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in Jacobs Chapel.
    Preferred memorials are to the church for masses or to the Emergency Medical Service ambulance based at Monroeville.
