Charles Edward "Ed" Dunno, 85, of Van Wert, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2012, at his residence.
He was born on June 25, 1926, to Charles and Pearle (Snyder) Dunno, in Elwood, Indiana.
He married Lois Charlene (Stenger) on March 19, 1949, in Van Wert. She preceded him in death on September 4, 2007.
Although born in Elwood, Ed moved with his family to Van Wert in 1935. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in Germany from 1943-1946, as a Military Policeman.
Ed drove truck for many years with Globe Dairy Company and Gressel Eggs, then worked and retired from Harter Corporation. He always loved horses and lived for many year in York Township with wife Lois and the boys.
He was a lifelong member of Robert G. Longwell Post 5803 and the Veterans Of Foreign Wars, Van Wert.
Survivors include son Tedd (Vicky) Dunno, of Silver Lake, Indiana.; Thomas E. (Linda) Dunno, of Van Wert; Robert L. Dunno, of Portland , Ore.; Donn (Joy) Dunno, of Decatur; seven grandchildren, Dr. Tawny (Ernest) Chamberlin, Richmond, Va.; Andrew Dunno, Tucson, Az.; and Andrea (Nico) Nitti, of Schaumburg, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Alexandria and William Quilan, of Indianapolis; and Carmela Mitti, of Schaumburg, Ill.
He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel; seven brothers, Jeff Winemiller, Lafayette, Luther, Zura, Charles W., William, and Earl Dunno; and one sister, Bertha Etgen.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Cowan and Son Funeral Home, Van Wert.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, also at the funeral home.
Burial will be determined at a later date.
A military service will be conducted by the combined honor guard of the VFW and American Legion Poss, of Van Wert.
