Cawood Ball

    Cawood Ball, 92, of Bean Station, Tenn., died July 4, 2012, at Lakeway Regional Hospital, Morristown, Tenn.
    He was born November 23, 1919, in Harlan County, Ky.
    Cawood was a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Force during World War II. He retired from The Magnavox Company after 33 years of service as a truck driver, based in Fort Wayne, and later Greeneville, Tenn. He attended First Baptist Church of Bean Station. He was an avid fisherman and original member of the Greeneville Bass Club.
    Among survivors are his daughters, Vashti (Lloyd) Thompson, Bean Station, Tenn; Susan Hoffman, Monroeville; Debra (Ken) Oldenberg; and son, David (Kaye) Ball of Greeneville, Tenn; brother, Lee (Carolyn) Ball, of Tucson, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Chester (Carol) Shedd, of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
    He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Willie V. Ball in 2003; a sister, and son-in-law, Fred L. Hoffman.
    Funeral services were held July 7 at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home, Greeneville, Tenn.
