Carolyn E. Ehinger

    Carolyn E. Ehinger, 75, of rural Decatur, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 21, 2012.
    Born November 7, 1936, in Roanoke, Carolyn is the daughter of the late Harold D. and Evelyn B. (Neuer) Simon.
     Carolyn married Arthur L. Ehinger on June 11, 1955, at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church, in Huntington.
    In 1970, the family moved to Decatur where Carolyn continued her dedication in caring for her family. She was very creative and enjoyed a variety of crafts including scrapbooking, needle work, crochet, cross stitch, and quilting, as well as being an accomplished seamstress.
    Carolyn was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Decatur, where she took special joy in creating cards she sent to the homebound.
    Survivors include her husband, Arthur L. Ehinger of rural Decatur; seven children, Jim (Tami) Ehinger of Bloomington; Barry (Anne) Ehinger of Decatur; Renee (Joe) Eisenhauer of Andrews, Ind.; Charles (Kelly) Ehinger of Decatur; Kate (Rob) Durbin of rural Decatur; Marta (Doug) Gilbert of rural Monroeville; and Amy (Mike) Ream, of Decatur; two sisters, Judy (Harold) Mowery of Fort Wayne; and Janet (Leonard) Scher, of Huntington; 24 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by a son, Perry, who died in infancy; and two brothers, Jack and Jerry Simon.
    Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, February 24, at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home, with reciting of the Holy Rosary at 3:30 p.m.
    A prayer service will be held at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at the funeral home, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
    Father David Voors will be officiating and burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
    Memorials are to St. Mary’s Building on Our Heritage.
