Carol A. Selking

    Carol A. Selking, 68, Decatur, passed away at 2 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at her residence following a brief illness and surrounded by her family.
    Carol was born Thursday, March 1, 1945, in Ashland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Arthur and Alma (Kinsey) Pipes. She married Ronald L. Selking Sept. 11, 1965, in St. Paul Lutheran Church- Preble; he survives.
    She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church-Preble and was involved in the church choir. Carol loved her garden, taking great pride in raising her garden and her flowers.
    Carol retired October of 2011 from the Adams Memorial Health Network as a registered nurse after 25 years of service. She was involved with the Adams County EMS prior to starting her nursing career. After she and Ron were married, she was employed at North American Van Lines, now SIRVA, in Fort Wayne. Carol was felt very proud fortunate to be a stay-at-home mom.
    Surviving are a son, Darrin L. (Dr. Wendy) Selking of Valparaiso; a daughter, Angela R. Selking of Fort Wayne; two grandsons, Wesley J. Selking and Travis L. Selking; and a brother, Larry (Lynne) Pipes of Butler, Ohio.
    Preceding Carol in death were three brothers, Richard, Ronald and Robert Pipes.
    Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the St. Paul Lutheran Church-Preble, with Rev. Dr. Daniel J. Brege officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery in Preble.
    Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church Friday.
    Preferred memorials are to St. Paul Lutheran Church-Preble, Worship For Shut-Ins or Family LifeCare in Berne.
