Carl Thompson "Tom" Bartlett Jr., 77, passed away on Monday morning, November 22, 2010, at his home.
He was born August 24, 1933, in Muncie, the son of Grace (Robinson) Bartlett and Carl T. Bartlett.
His dad, Carl T. Bartlett Sr., started Bartlett Auctioneers in 1929 and Tom joined him in business in 1951 and remained in the auction business until he retired in 1997.
Tom graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1951 and was a graduate of Reppert School of Auctioneering at Decatur in the summer of 1951.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a lifetime member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 245. Mr. Bartlett also was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include three sons, John C. Bartlett of Indianapolis, Matthew J. Bartlett of Muncie, and Carl T. Bartlett III of Muncie; three daughters, Pamela S. Foust of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Carla A. Sulfridge, (husband, Larry) of Paulding, Ohio; and Beth Ann Bartlett of Muncie; six grandchildren, Christy M. Crace of Tampa, Florida; Gary E. Foust of Paulding, Ohio; Tyler J. Bartlett of Huntington Beach, California; Jacob T. Bartlett of Yorktown, Indiana; Jared M. Bartlett of Yorktown; and Miranda Gibson of Muncie; and his former wife, Gaynell Bartlett of Muncie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, November 27, 2010, in Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington St. Chapel in Muncie. Burial will be private.
Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday at Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington St. Chapel.
