Callithumpian drawing close

October 15, 2013

Decatur’s annual Callithumpian Festival is less than two weeks away, with the popular parade planned for its traditional 6:57 p.m. start on Monday, Oct. 28 to highlight the fest.
Many events are planned prior to parade night, and some have been taking place throughout the month.
Haunted wagon tours leave the courthouse at 5:45 p.m., 7 p.m., 8:15 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights through October, and the judging for the Callithmpian House Deocrating Contest will be held from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, with a rain date of Oct. 23.
Residents may vote as often as they like for their favorite baby photo through Oct. 27 at Walgreens pharmacy in Decatur as part of the Callithumpian Baby Photo Contest. The popular Creatures of the Night event will take place at Bellmont Pond from 6:30-8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26.
Food takes center stage on parade day — Oct. 28 — as vendors representing a variety of groups and organization will sell their wares throughout the downtown area.
