Caden comes to Decatur... and he’s flat!

For those who haven't heard of Flat Stanley, meet Flat Caden.
Flat Stanley is a character in a children's book and, to emulate him, the kindergarten students in Caden Brannon's school at Huntland, Tennessee, are working on a fun project.
It involves sending life-sized flat paper cutouts of him and the other kids to relatives so they can take the cutouts to various places, photograph them, and then send the pictures and any written documentation (such as this newspaper story) back to the school to complete the class project.
Caden, who is six, had his parents send one of his cutouts to a greatuncle and a greataunt in Decatur, Tom and Betty Ashley.
Mrs. Ashley has been busy taking photos of Caden's cutout at various places, such as the Limberlost State Historic Site in Geneva, and with varied people, such as Decatur Mayor John Schultz.
A fill-in-the-blank note that came with the cutout says, "I would love to visit you, but I can't right now. Instead, I am mailing you Flat Caden.
"Please take me with you to places that you visit. Show me the sights of your town or maybe just bring me to work with you.
"If you could write about my trip or, even better, send some pictures or postcards, I would really appreciate it.
"My flat 'me' needs to be returned to my school during the first week of November, so I can share my flat adventures with my teacher and classmates."
Huntland, Tennessee is a town of 916 people (according to the 2010 census) near the Tennessee-Alabama state line. It has some 20 businesses, a new fire station, four manufacturing plants, a medical clinic, a dental clinic, and two schools.
