Bellmont hosted NHC rival New Haven on the soccer pitch Monday night allowing two late goals in the second half to the Bulldogs in a 4-2 loss.
The Braves had a slow start on the defensive end allowing two New Haven goals in the first 20 minutes but once settled down, Bellmont stopped the bleeding before halftime.
Andy Hess slipped a ball to Willie Mahlan who finished into the back of the net for Bellmont's first goal of the game just before the half to put the Braves within one at 2-1.
During halftime and into a majority of the second frame the rains came leaving the field a sloppy mess for both squads. Bellmont earned the equalizer, however off of another Hess assist to Seth King who rifled a goal from 25 yards out.
In the final 3:50 of the match, the Bulldogs managed two goals to put the decision on ice, 4-2. After the visitors managed a third goal to put them up, the fourth goal came off of a frantic Bellmont defense pushing to make something happen to tie the score.
"Their third goal put us out of position," Bellmont coach Jake Breide noted. "Once they scored that we pushed up too much trying to get the ball back."
The BHS coach also analyzed the game at large, "I thought we played well in the second half even with the rain. We had a lot of opportunities and just couldn't finish."
Caleb Schell had five saves in goal taking the loss for Bellmont.
"Caleb made a great save to keep the game tied with 15 minutes left in the match," praised Breide. "He went from his right side to make the save on the left goal post."
Bellmont faces East Noble tonight on the road starting at 5 p.m.
