Brick Sales at 600; fountain off at present

August 28, 2013

Adams County Maintenance Director Dave Meyer reported to the county commissioners on Monday that brick sales for a veteran's memorial at the Peace Monument are proceeding nicely, with "right at 600 bricks" currently sold.
Meyer noted that he was pleased with the progress, adding its "pretty cool that Decatur has that type of project" in the works.
The 100-year-old monument was rededicated on Saturday, and the sales of bricks are helping finance the restoration of the monument.
The restored fountain was working for several days, but had to be turned off Tuesday when some lining came loose. Repairs are expected to be completed within a few days, Meyer said.
