Both the Bellmont and South Adams boys' soccer teams ended their seasons Wednesday night in sectional play as the Braves were downed by the Knights at Norwell 1-0, and the Starfires were trampled by Heritage at Blackhawk Christian 8-0.
The Braves and Knights were knotted at 0-0 after halftime, but it was Norwell who struck for the first and only goal of the match in the second half, a goal by Cam Denney assisted by Jalen Smith. On the other side of the bracket, Wayne edged New Haven, 2-1 carving the second spot in the finals for the Generals to play Norwell on Saturday for the sectional title.
In South Adams' sectional, the Patriots poured on the points against the Starfire defense and did not let up. Six goals in the first half were followed by two more in the second for Heritage who allowed only three shots on goal from SA in the victory. Junior Aaron Horne achieved a hat-trick in the game finishing with three goals and an assist in the contest with Oliver Valdes scoring two goals and an assist and Carson White scoring two goals on three shots as well. Logan White also scored one of the Heritage goals in the game. The Stars finish the season 3-13-1. Heritage will play Bishop Luers in the sectional finals Saturday after the Knights topped Blackhawk Christian, 4-0.
