KINGSLAND— The Squaws wrangled in their fourth sectional title in Bellmont's school history on Saturday when they defeated South Side 1-0 at Norwell.
The lone score came 20 minutes into the game off a direct kick near the right corner from Bailey Beery. Ryann Velez made a run directly in front of the goalie and headed the ball forward and it was rainbowed over the goalie's outstretched hands. While still up for grabs, Ashley Hamrick redirected the ball into the back of the net with her head as well.
The remaining portion of the first half was a very defensive game with Bellmont winning the possession game. The second half of the game took on  much more direct and physical play as the game became a little chippy. With approximately 15 minutes left in the game South Sides's Brittni Clopton received a yellow card as she spiked the ball not agreeing with a call and seconds later received a red.

In another title game against South Side, Bellmont held firm to home-field advantage despite being down at half.
The Braves posted two goals in the second half against the Archers and won the sectional title at the Teepee 2-1 on Saturday afternoon, the school's fourth boys title and first since 2007.
Levi Thompson scored South Side's only goal in the match with a first-half strike assisted by Alberto Rodriguez that held firm until the teams retreated into the locker rooms.
In half two, Sam Ainsworth and freshman Joel Harvey saved the Braves' season with two goals including one assisted by senior Cam Bienz and Bellmont pulled the come-from-behind victory to seal their spot in the regionals on Thursday night.
Caleb Schell earned the win in-goal with four saves and one goal allowed in 80 minutes of work.
